Membership

Section I - Qualifications

Any person may become a member of this church at any worship service or business meeting by:

  1. confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and after baptism by immersion;
    letter from some other church of like faith and order;
    statement of Christian experience, if previously baptized by immersion.
  2. Amendment (December 5, 1988
    1. any person, or resident member of the household, who has been excommunicated from any other "Christian" church membership shall be denied membership until said person has gained reinstatement in good standing with his/her original church and presents said reinstatement to Miami Baptist Church Board of Deacons.

 

Section II - Duties

It shall be the duty of each member of this church to strive earnestly to abide by the New Testament teachings as to conduct, worship, giving, and service.

Section III - Status Of Membership

  1. Letters of transfer, for the purpose of uniting with any evangelical Christian church, shall be granted to members in good standing upon recommendation of the Board of Deacons followed by a vote by the church.
  2. Any member having been granted a letter, shall thereafter cease to be a member of this church.
  3. A member who has failed to contribute either spiritually or materially to the work of the church for a period of two years, without valid excuse, may, after notification by letter from the church clerk, as authorized by the Board of Deacons, be placed on an inactive list and automatically assume the status of a passive member.
  4. A member may change from passive to active membership by request and upon recommendation of the Board of Deacons.
